The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise
expectations because low expectations create barriers between blind people
and our dreams. You can live the life you want! Blindness is not what holds
you back.

Hello. My name is Heather and I am the president of the New York Association
of Guide Dog Users (NYAGDU). I will be traveling with my husband's family to
Florida from Friday 6/22/2018 through 8/1/2018 and I am hoping that someone
in FLAGDU or in one of the chapters near where we will be staying, Tampa,
Orlando. could lend me a hard dog crate? I need either a metal crate or a
plastic airline crate. My dog can unzip, yes, even if the zipper lock is
used, a soft sided crate if unsupervised. She has pried open, without
ripping, Noz2Noz, Guardian Gear, and Pet Nation soft sided crates. We will
be staying in Auburndale, I may be spelling that incorrectly. We will be
renting two vehicles and so could drive a ways to pick it up and then return
it. Ilsa is on the small side, less than 60 lb., and a 36 inch crate, front
to back measurement, would be plenty, although a larger crate is also
alright. I would only need it for a few days. I have checked empty airline
crates and folded steel crates as baggage and have had them damaged every
time, so I thought borrowing a crate would be a better bet. I would be happy
to make a donation for the privilege of borrowing the crate, say $20 to the
FLAGDU or whichever Florida based NFB chapter is able to help me out. Thanks
so much. I appreciate your consideration in reading my email and an extra
thank you to anyone who is able to help.

My phone number is (585) 739-6473 and my email is heather.l.bird at gmail.com.

I think the earliest I would need it would be Monday or Tuesday, the 25th or
26th. I do not need it the day I arrive. I will be bringing Ilsa with me,
most of the time to most places, but need a crate for a few short times when
I need to leave her. No, she is not comfortable on a tie down for more than
a quarter of an hour or so, if unattended, and a crate would make her life
much more pleasant and she and I would appreciate the loan of a crate
greatly
