Seeing Eye Puppies Take Manhattan! 

Field trip prepares them for life with their future owners 

On December 8, 27 Seeing Eye® puppies from the Essex County Eyes of Hope Seeing Eye Puppy Raising Club visited the Big Apple! 

They took a picture near Rockefeller Center’s Christmas Tree and had lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. in Times Square before heading to the Bryant Park holiday shops. To round out their day of socialization training, they took the commuter train back to New Jersey. 

Social outings like these are so important to these future Seeing Eye dogs. The day was packed with new experiences that ranged from navigating the noisy and crowded streets ... to lunching quietly in a restaurant ... to becoming acclimated to public transportation — all activities that they may experience with their future owners. 

The puppies, ranging in age from 4-15 months, took everything in stride. Thanks to their dedicated puppy raisers, these trainees are well on their way to becoming top-notch Seeing Eye dogs!

We “Crushed” 2019! 

Thank You for Helping to Make this Year Special 

2019, The Seeing Eye’s 90th anniversary year, was filled with accomplishments and special moments — all proof of the power of donor generosity! 

By the numbers: 

*	We served 255 people who are blind or visually impaired.
*	We provided follow-up training and support, with our instructors making 663 visits to 43 states, 7 provinces, and Puerto Rico
*	We welcomed 465 puppies into the world

Special achievements: 

*	We said good-bye to Jim Kutsch, who served as our President & CEO for 13 years, and welcomed his successor, Glenn Hoagland
*	We made vital improvements to our kennel facility
*	We celebrated our 90th anniversary by ringing the closing bell at the NASDAQ Stock Exchange
*	We changed our address to One Seeing Eye Way … hosted a graduate reunion … and unveiled a new mural at our campus!

Thank you for being part of this milestone year. Together, we’re a great team that makes great things happen!

Michael and Burt: A Dynamic Duo 

Ever since being matched with Burt, a yellow Labrador retriever, Michael navigates his world with confidence — and credits his expertly trained Seeing Eye dog. “I feel like I have a full life, a rewarding life. I consider myself very fortunate," Michael said. "Having a Seeing Eye dog is part of that equation.”
