[NFBF-L] Spectrum Rebate

Thanks for your input Pat. I'm all about Spectrum and have 3 boxes and part of my bill is covered by my HOA. Therefore, I am eager to see what Spectrum can do for the blind and visually impaired with their new boxes.

Hope you are doing well!

Talk soon.

Kathy

Nothing against Spectrum and what they are offering, but unless you watch a lot of tv, and like to record things, I personally find using the Roku works just fine. It is accessible, you know exactly where you are, you can save channels to favorites, and for the most part after you figure things out, is easy to learn how to navigate. So if you don't care about having recording capabilities, or knowing what shows are on when, then Roku is a good bet.

By the way, you can also download the Spectrum app which gives you most of the same features you get with the box, including the guide.

Just my two sense, thanks, and have a good day.

Hi all,
The roll out of this product to us as blind consumers has not been a smooth process at all!
Toni and I got our service installed Monday afternoon and this was the second visit that their techs had to make to our place.
As far as the service techs go they were professional in how we were treated, but the support the first one got from their back end was offal.
The first guy did not have the box and he was not trained before hand on how to set it up.
It seems they have a limited staff to deploy this service to us and few people in the company know how this really works.

Toni and I are evaluating how this particular box works and as of this point there are a few things we do not like about it.
We are having trouble figuring out how to browse the tv guide and see what may be coming up in the future on the channels we wish to watch.
At this point we have figured out how to record something we are currently watching.
Also if we are watching a channel and we wish to pause the playback we do not know how to go back to watching live tv.
The system seems to have a memory as to where you left off and changing the channels back and forth to get the live output doesn't seem to work.
We will give this thing a chance, but unless things get better for us we will be going back to Tivo that will work as we expect with some features the Spectrum box will never have.

Tom

I was supposed to have mine by now, but the guy came out this morning with nothing. I had to reschedule my appointment and I think that's where things got messed up.

I think we're supposed to get our box tomorrow.
I'm glad you were able to speak with someone. I'll keep that number, just in case.
