Hello Jorge,
Unfortunately, the Division of Blind Services Center for Rehabilitation and Training is now closed, and is not expected to reopen for several months.
If you wish to properly apply for residential training when it reopens, I suggest that you contact your local Division of Blind Services office, and set up an appointment with your counselor, or request an appointment for an interview. During that interview, you should create with your counselor a long term goal and pathway towards that future employment. Make sure that you are in the vocational pathway instead of the independent living pathway if you wish DBS to help you with education and available training at the Daytona Rehab Center. You need to demonstrate that you are motivated towards skilled future employment, and are willing to make a commitment to hard work to reach that goal.
If you are only interested in mobility and a possible guide dog, and emphasize that as your primary focus, you may be instructed to seek the mobility cane training and other independent living skills at your local Lighthouse or Center for the Visually Impaired. Even if you want to create an employment path and wish Division of Blind Services to help, you should take advantage now of all local services . Admission to the residential Daytona Rehab Center, the NFB training centers, and most guide dog schools will put you on a long waiting list. Many of their services are now restricted during the pandemic.
All of these opportunities want you to demonstrate motivation, self-direction, present committed involvement and participation in available local services. Finally, involvement and work in your local NFB chapter will provide you with experience, friendship, and possible recommendations from long time NFBF members with a wealth of knowledge and connections.
Stay safe and good luck,
Brian

Oh yeah, I went through the lighthouse program but that was a long time ago.
Broward has the same contract with the one over here you guys have over there so I know exactly what you’re talking about.

In my process of getting training I was refused three times for the NFB training center do that we have contracts you’re in Florida with Tampa lighthouse now they’re good but they’re not that good. No braille and other stuff better at the moment I can’t remember, their training is two weeks and every In each task. The only one on one will be the mobility training everything else is in a group this group is in different levels meaning you will have people still in the kindergarten level, middle school etc. etc.

You can bring a guide dog to training, but you will not use it in travel class. I would focus on getting great cane skills. Then get the dog if you still want one.
