Dear Florida Federationists,
As we discussed at our last Legislative committee meeting, we are working diligently on the Access Technology Affordability Act (ATAA). There are two Florida Representatives that we have been asked to focus on immediately. Representatives Posey and Rep Mast; both co-sponsored the bill in the previous Congress (115th).
Representative Posey is from the eighth district, which runs along the Atlantic coast from Titusville in the north to Vero Beach in the south and includes Palm Bay. Representative Mast is from the eighteenth district, which is also on the Atlantic Coast and includes the cities of Port St. Lucie and Stuart.
When you call or email, you might say something like the following:
"Hello, my name is [your name] and I am a constituent of [your representative]. I live in [city]. I am calling to urge [your representative] to cosponsor HR 2086 the Access Technology Affordability Act. This legislation removes an employment barrier commonly experienced by blind Americans who cannot afford the high cost of access technology by creating a refundable tax credit in the amount of $2,000 to offset the cost of these technologies. In the wake of the Coronavirus an employment bill for blind Americans this bill is needed more than ever. I urge representative] to cosponsor the bill.
