Dear Members,

Please join me in Congratulating Ms. Sherri Brun who is our Chapters first recipient of the Central Florida White Cane Leadership Award. The award was announced last night during our first Virtual Blind Americans Equality Day Celebration. Sherri was honored because of her leadership in our local Chapter for over 30 years now, and her advocacy and support of Blind Americans Equality Day and the Florida White Cane Law. Sherri has attended almost every White Cane Day program in Central Florida since I can remember. She often represents our Chapter during the NFB Washington Seminar, as she meets with our Congressional Delegation, on behalf of the Federations Legislative priorities. Sherri is a strong advocate of the Federation and has spent her adult life working as a volunteer in the NFB helping blind people to live the life that they want to live. Sherri is employed part time as a Medical Transcriptionist. Congratulations Sherri on your award.

Also the Greater Orlando Council of the Blind Chapter honored Mrs. Sila Miller, for her tireless work to assist Blind persons and her advocacy on behalf of Safety for blind Pedestrians crossing our streets and highways in Florida. Sila is an example of what blind people can accomplish with hard work and determination. She works full time with the Division of Blind Services in an Administrative position.

Sila is also the Corresponding Secretary for the Florida School for the Blind Alumni Association. Congratulations to Sila on receiving this first annual Central Florida White Cane Leadership Award.
