Hello FOCB Family and Friends,
The Florida Outreach Center for the Blind is excited to announce our new
Peer Support Group called Caring and Sharing. These discussions will be open
to all visually-impaired persons and will be held at the Center weekly
starting Tuesday, October 26th at noon. The purpose of the group is to
provide a safe and private environment to share and discuss whatever is on
your mind. It can be about anything including trips, family concerns, visual
challenges, among many other things, and receive input and support from your
peers. You are welcome to participate or just listen. Refreshments will be
served and Palm Tran tickets will be reimbursed to all participants.
Also, do you know that October is White Cane Awareness month? Do you know
about the White Cane Law and how it affects pedestrians and drivers? Do you
use a White Cane or wonder what to say when you meet a person with a White
Cane? These questions and more will be answered during our White Cane
workshop at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 28th. Participants will get a
chance to win a $25 gift card. You must be present to win! The log in
information for this Zoom meeting will be located at the bottom of this
message.

We would also like to invite you to our monthly Book Club discussion led by
the Talking Books Manager on Thursday, October 28th at 3:00 PM. The title of
the book is "Hello Sunshine" by Laura Dave. This will also be held via the
Zoom platform.
