[NFBF-L] A few thoughts

They did mention he worked in Gainesville. He had so much potential. He was also engaged. This is so sad! And the nine-year-old girl and the woman as well. And the photographer and the mom of the nine-year-old with so much recovery ahead.

Thank you Sherri. I had heard about the incident on Wednesday, but they had no additional information until yesterday when Gainesville and North Central Florida learned that Dylan Lyons was one of the victims. He worked at WCJB, Channel 20 as an anchor/reporter from 2019-2021. The market here is a training ground for journalists out of college. They move on when an opportunity presents itself. In the time he was here, he made an impact on the Gainesville community. He has received many tributes. University of Central Florida, his alma mater, had many memories also. Gone too soon at 24.

Good evening Federation Family.

First, I want to express my thanks to our legislative leaders Camille and Russ for such a great legislative call. I commend all those who attended and participated, because we have a lot of work ahead of us and everyone is important!

On another note, I am sure everyone is probably aware of the shootings that occurred in the pine Hills area of Orange County yesterday. Three people, a nine-year-old, a twenty-something-year-old young lady and an up and coming news journalist working for Spectrum News 13 were needlessly gunned down. The mother of the nine-year-old little girl and the photographer working with the journalist are hospitalized. The gunman was only 19. As my Congressional Representative Maxwell Frost commented, these deaths have to stop. I ask that you keep these victims and their families in your thoughts and prayers and I encourage all of you to do what you can within your own personal views to support legislation that will strengthen gun laws in Florida. Something has to change. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Let’s go build the NFB of Florida.
