Our hearts and prayers are for all of the individuals who were hurt or killed in this tragic gun violence here in Orlando this week. We need more Mental Health services and a commitment to sensible gun control laws here in Florida. My heart goes out to the young 9 year old child who is the youngest victim of this massacre. She was just a little girl, waiting to grow up.

Please write to our state Senators and House of Representatives, and tell them that you want an end to senseless death because of gun violence. It does not matter where you live, we are all at risk, with the possibility of more guns in our communities. Our homes and places of public access should be safe for all Florida residents. These young people need help from our community as a village takes care of its own.

Let us reach out in our diverse communities, with love and inclusion for everyone. If you see or hear something, that could lead to harm or death please Say Something to law enforcement. We are here to listen, if you need someone to talk with.

Prayers for recovery of those who are still in the hospital, and prayers for those who lost family members and friends this week.

Sincerely,
Marilyn Baldwin

I had heard about the incident on Wednesday, but they had no additional information until yesterday when Gainesville and North Central Florida learned that Dylan Lyons was one of the victims. He worked at WCJB, Channel 20 as an anchor/reporter from 2019-2021. The market here is a training ground for journalists out of college. They move on when an opportunity presents itself. In the time he was here, he made an impact on the Gainesville community. He has received many tributes. University of Central Florida, his alma mater, had many memories also. Gone too soon at 24.

Three people, a nine-year-old, a twenty-something-year-old young lady and an up and coming news journalist working for Spectrum News 13 were needlessly gunned down. The mother of the nine-year-old little girl and the photographer working with the journalist are hospitalized. The gunman was only 19. As my Congressional Representative Maxwell Frost commented, these deaths have to stop. I ask that you keep these victims and their families in your thoughts and prayers and I encourage all of you to do what you can within your own personal views to support legislation that will strengthen gun laws in Florida. Something has to change. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
