Hello to all,

Here are September's minutes.

I hope to see you tomorrow at the meeting.

Happy Friday. It's a special day here since my retired guide Fallon turns 15
years old today.

She accompanied me to ten national and ten state conventions. What a joy she
has been.

Chapter Meeting Minutes

September 24, 2022

Beef O ' Brady's

8810 North Himes Avenue

Tampa, Florida

The meeting was called to order by President Miranda Kilby at 12:30pM.

Everyone introduced themselves. There were a total of 19 persons in
attendance, 13 attending in person and 6 via Zoom.

We said the NFB pledge altogether.

Secretary and Treasurer Reports

A motion was made by Barbara, seconded by Kristine, to approve the August
meeting minutes as emailed. The motion passed.

Dan gave the treasurer's report. Our current balance is $1880.05.

A motion was made by Sherrill, seconded by Paul, to accept the treasurer's
report as read. The motion passed. Miranda reminded the group that Merry
Schoch has agreed to pay the $15 bank fee until our balance reaches $2000.

Fund Raising

Dan reported that we made a profit of $211 through the candy sale at
Yvonne's office. Yvonne said some of the money was received through
donations. She said she had made a display of pictures from other chapter
events.

Miranda said that we are continuing to work with Chilies to set up a Spirit
Night fund raising event.

State Convention

Miranda said there will probably be eleven persons from our chapter
attending the state convention in Jacksonville.

She said that the agenda has been sent out. There will be live streaming of
the Board meeting, general sessions and the banquet.

Door Prizes

Our chapter is donating five cash door prizes. A motion was made by
Kristine, seconded by Barbara, to approve the suggestion that each prize be
in the amount of $22, with each including a two dollar bill. The motion
passed. Louise and Sherrill donated $50 toward the door prizes, so the
chapter will only need to pay $50, since the five two dollar bills are being
donated by Yvonne.

Auction Basket

Miranda said we still need items for the auction basket state fund raiser.

Miranda said we will not hold an actual Blindness Education and Awareness
Month event, but that hosting a Spirit Night event(s) in the near future
would be a good way to observe it.

We discussed whether we should have a meeting in October since the state
convention is taking place during the second week of the month. A motion was
made by Barbara, seconded by Gloria, to hold a chapter meeting in October.
The motion was amended to state that we should hold a meeting in october
contingent on whether we host a Chilies Spirit Night during the month. The
amended motion passed.

Social Activities

Yvonne reported that Pin Chasers sent a hand written card thanking us for
coming to bowl and inviting us back.

Yvonne will also look into a theater which has audio descriptive movies. It
will be important to check to make sure their headsets are working properly
and that they have enough of them to allow chapter members to participate as
a group.

Marion invited us to consider coming as a group to one of his public
performances. He said that if Chilies is willing, he would donate his
services to perform there as part of a Spirit Night.

Tricounty Service

Gloria reported that at the present time, only Pinellas County has this
service up and running. Hillsborough and Pasco counties say it is a work in
progress. To be eligible, an individual must fill out a form with Sunshine
Line. Hillsborough County says they will be starting up by the end of
October.

State Board member Camille Tate spoke to us via Zoom about the email she has
sent out telling about the effort to have accessible prescription drug
labels available from pharmacies at no additional cost. She would like to
receive email testimonials on this matter. The deadline to submit them to
her is October 30.

Our 50/50 fundraiser drawing was won by Dan Hicks, who received $32.

If we hold a meeting in October, it will be held on the 23rd.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:30PM.

Respectfully submitted

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise
expectations because low expectations create barriers between blind people
and our dreams. You can live the life you want! Blindness is not what holds
