Seminars at Hadley Presents: Everything Recreation

Date: Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Time: 10:00 AM CDT, 15:00 GMT

Let’s explore the benefits of recreation! During this seminar, we’ll discuss
simple ways to adapt sports, outdoor activities, games and arts and crafts on a
budget. Learn to live a life of passion and fulfillment by working through
inhibitions, utilizing resources, integrating skills, wisdom and experience
into your leisure lifestyle and recreational choices. Throughout this
interactive session, we’ll identify common barriers to participating in
recreation and possible solutions. We’ll also challenge you to explore your
internal barriers and provide your own solutions by considering calculated
risks when accepting new challenges and opportunities. Understand how this
approach to staying active facilitates personal growth and transformation.
Learn how adventure programs and community outreach work can enhance social and
vocational skills that can help you find and maintain employment. Learn how
crafts build a sense of community and how art and journaling serve to de-stress
through self-expression.

Seminars at Hadley guest presenters are the Texas Division for Blind Services
Criss Cole Rehabilitation Center Recreation staff members Jody Royder, Cody
Hatfield and Debbie Braungart. They specialize in providing recreation
opportunities for people who are blind and may have other disabilities.

This 60-minute seminar will be moderated by Hadley’s Outreach Coordinator
Shirley McCracken. A question and answer session will be included as part of
the seminar. Blindness professionals and support group leaders are also welcome
and encouraged to attend this presentation and discussion.

Space in this seminar is limited. Please only register if you know you are
