Transit Authority of River City is holding a week-long series of Design Open Houses at TARC headquarters, Union Station Lobby, 1000 W. Broadway downtown.

Louisville Metro residents are invited to submit their transportation ideas, observations, and solutions during a series of workshops/presentations and open-house events the week of Jan. 13.

City officials are developing a 30-year multi-modal transportation plan – Move Louisville Strategic Multimodal Transportation Plan – meant to create greater mobility between places where people live, work, shop, eat and relax.

Attendees will have the first opportunity to talk with experts, give their input, and get a glimpse behind the curtain of transportation planning, according to a news release.

Dates and times for the Design Open House workshops:

· Monday, Jan. 13 – 6 p.m. (Initial Launch Presentation)
· Tuesday, Jan. 14 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Open House)
· Wednesday, Jan. 15 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Open House)

· Thursday, Jan. 16 – 5:30 p.m. (Wrap-up Presentation )

The city received a $600,000 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s 2012 Transportation, Community and System Preservation Grant Program to refine its transportation plan.

The city matched the federal grant with $125,000, and partnered with TARC, which contributed $25,000, to help fund the total local match for MoveLouisville.

Development of the plan, which includes several opportunities for public input, began in November 2013 and will take about 10 months.
