Lucretia “Lucy” Riddle McDowell Dean, 65, passed away Friday, January 3, 2014.

Lucy was a native of Madisonville, KY and a graduate of Madisonville High School. She worked most recently as a nurse consultant for the Department for Public Health and previously employed as a Nursing Professor at Midway College, Madisonville Community College and a staff nurse at Frankfort Regional Medical
Center.
Lucy is survived by her husband, Jamill “Jay” S. Dean; sons, Charles Patrick McDowell and his wife, Carrie M. McDowell of Chicago, IL and Daniel Ryan McDowell and his wife, Kathryn L. McDowell of Collinsville, IL; two grandsons; three stepsons; five step-grandchildren; and her brother, Keith Riddle and his wife, Laura of Madisonville, KY.
She was the widow of Charles W. McDowell. Lucy was also preceded in death by her parents, Henry H. and Wanda L. Riddle; and twin sister, Patricia Riddle.
Lucy will be missed greatly by everyone she met, as friends and family came first.
Visitation will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Buck Run Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her name to American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
