[Nfbk] Greater Louisville Auction Items - we need your help!

Just checking because I was hoping we might build a little more "outside" of
our members to gain funding. I have been attending some events that serve
meals to raise money and they been about 50-60 percent members and the rest
is the public that has no affiliation with the group but attend the event
(and thus bring in outside money).

Here are a couple of ideas:
-Make sure it is in the paper several times for at least two weeks in
advance of the date so people can make plans, and especially on the day of
the event (the paper should have a calendar or list of events column)
-Try to get a reporter to cover the event.
-Post to our FB page and encourage people to share it on their own timelines
(one a week until the week of the event, probably three times the week of
the event).
-Find local churches that have newsletters and ask if they would share the
information with their members, and emphasize how we help the blind and this
is fund raising to continue that mission.

There were a couple of other ideas but I forgot them already.

Hello! I would like to add, that we have always invited and encouraged the
general public to attend. Melanies media campaign is nothing new for this
event. This is always been a great way to involve extended family and friend
and get them involved in our efforts.
Thank you.

Have a great day

Hi Cindy,

We are absolutely inviting the general public. In fact, we are currently
planning a social media and publicity campaign to spread the word far and
wide. We welcome your suggestions and please feel free to invite anyone
you'd like. As in the past, the cost is $5, which includes a bowl of chili,
soft drink, crackers, and a dessert. The dinner starts at 4 and the auction
starts at 5. Typically we are finished by 9pm. I hope we'll see you there!

Melanie

Melanie,

Will we be inviting the public or is this just for our members?

Greetings fellow Federationists!

I hope this message finds you all well and that your weekend is kicking off
to a good start. I'm writing once again to ask for your help to obtain items
for our annual fundraising auction. This is by far our largest fundraiser
and in years past we have brought in over $3000.00! Let's not let 2014 be
the year we fall short. As with many initiatives it takes teamwork to make
the event so successful. To that end I need all Louisville members (and our
extended Federation family too if you'd like!) to roll up your sleeves and
start bringing in those auction items. The NFBGL board of directors can't do
this alone, we need your help. Please find attached the 2014 NFBGL Auction
Donation Request letter. Please save it to your computer and either email it
or print it and deliver it to anyone whom you feel may be interested in
donating to our auction. No items are too small. Often we can bundle several
small things to make a really nice package. Gift cards are good, as well as
those unused holiday gifts that you know you'll never use, but don't want to
send back. As always, if you have any questions please feel free to email or
call me directly. My phone number is 502-262-1403. Thanks in advance for
your hard work!

Warm Regards,

Melanie
