Hi Katie,
This is interesting to me because those of us who are deaf-blind say we are a deaf-blind person. We put deaf-blind before the person because we are proud to identify ourselves as deaf-blind. It's part of deaf-blind culture. It means we belong to the deaf-blind community. I personally say I'm a deaf-blind person. If I was born deaf I would say I am Deaf-blind with a capital D because of Deaf culture. I find it difficult when writing and refering to my deaf-blindness in person first language because I feel it doesn't do it justice. It i a part of who I am in many ways although it doesn't define me. I can understand why person first language is often preferred but I wonder how many people with disabilities to use person first language here actually uses it themselves.

For those of you that aren't familiar with the term, PFL is basically a way of wording things (person with a disability, instead of disabled person) that some "experts" view as less offensive.
