Description
The Education and Workforce Development Cabinet's mission is to educate, prepare and train Kentucky's current and future workforces. Our goal is to create and make continuous improvements to an education and workforce system that prepares Kentuckians for the 21st century workforce, while helping businesses find the skilled workers they need to compete and create jobs in the Commonwealth.

The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation empowers individuals with disabilities to maximize employment, achieve economic self-sufficiency and independence, and to contribute back to society. We also help businesses and employers recruit, retain and accommodate employees with disabilities.

We are seeking an Administrative Specialist II at the Charles McDowell Rehabilitation Center in the Vocational Preparation Section to provide professional support to the section.

Key Responsibilities:

  *   Compiles vocational preparation consumer evaluations and progress reports using data from multiple sources and communicates with staff to resolve errors and inconsistencies.
  *   Sets up record systems and maintains program evaluation and reporting data. Recommends changes in procedures on data collection and reporting based on regulation requirements when necessary.
  *   Monitors the weekly budget and makes recommendations for adjustments to stay within budget. Compiles reports needed for monitoring program expenses and for program evaluation. Contacts staff and agency personnel to resolve inconsistencies with data.
  *   Monitors the need for office supplies, computers, printer equipment and upgrades in student labs and submits requisitions.
  *   Assists with transcription equipment, reading to consumers and monitoring equipment for effectiveness. Provides verbal visual mapping and/or guidance at the worksite, assists students in finding classrooms and reading schedules.
  *   Assists with backup for switchboard operations at the center, answering questions and providing general information on vocational rehabilitation services to consumers and the public.
  *   Coordinates and schedules staff meetings including scheduling rooms, preparing meeting agendas, preparing handouts and taking minutes.
  *   Transports consumers and staff for recreational activities or instruction services.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of professional, administrative, or business experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
