Lead Technical Quality Assurance Analyst:
The American Printing House for the Blind (APH), a world leader in creating learning solutions and products for children and adults who are blind or visually impaired is seeking a Lead Technical Quality Assurance Analyst.
Reporting to the Technology Project Manager, this position will play an important part in our APH’s product development process, as they play a primary role in planning, implementing, leading and executing all aspects of quality and testing. The role requires hands-on technical Quality Assurance
(QA) expertise, ability to take initiative and develop and evolve our technical QA processes.
Note: This will be a remote position during Covid. The candidate is expected to work onsite in the future.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•	Establish and evolve formal technical quality assurance processes,
ensuring that the team is using industry-accepted best practices.
•	Oversee all aspects of technical quality assurance including establishing
metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met.
•	Act as key point of contact for all Technical QA aspects of releases,
providing technical quality assurance services and coordinating technical quality assurance resources internally and externally.
•	Lead and mentor Technical QA team members, as well as manage outside
contract testers.
•	Develop and execute test cases, scripts, plans and procedures (manual and
automated).
•	Diagnose defects and track them from discovery to resolution.
•	Write technical documentation for internal quality testing.
•	Evaluate and interpret educational and technical requirements to develop
test cases.
•	Partner with engineering teams to stay informed of new technologies being
introduced and to ensure that system components are designed for testability.
•	Respond to all requests from team members in a timely professional
manner.
•	Updating project manager regularly about the progress of testing
activities.
•	Help ensure equality by revolutionizing universal access to educational
content.
•	Advance the state of electronic braille to keep pace with the changing
demands of literacy in the information age.
•	Train other departments within APH on new and existing products.
•	Write clear product specifications, work with internal and consultant
product development resources to ensure those specs are understood and can be developed as needed.  Must be comfortable making educated product change decisions when necessary.
•	Write technical documentation for internal quality testing.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

•	Bachelor’s degree is required. Degree in Computer Science or Computer
Information Systems is preferred
•	5+ years’ experience in the software quality field, including prior
hands-on quality engineering experience.
•	Possess a solid understanding of the braille code, tactile graphics needs
to identify where accessibility holes are present, highly preferred.
•	Extensive experience with screen readers (such as JAWS, NVDA) and braille
translation software (e.g. BrailleBlaster, Duxbury).
•	Extensive with accessibility services on the four major platforms (iOS,
Android, Windows, or OSX).
•	Extensive experience with braille displays, highly preferred.
•	Proficient in braille required.
•	Demonstrated experience developing and executing test cases, scripts,
plans and procedures to support various development methodologies.
•	Exposure to Java, JavaScript, C++, and/or an automated functional GUI
test tool, required.
•	Prior success using a metrics-driven approach and closed-loop feedback to
improve software deliverables and improve predictability and reliability of releases
•	Understanding of testing Web Services in complex systems integration
environments consisting of Web, Application, Database and Integration servers.
•	Knowledge of virtual machines.
•	Knowledge of Mac, PC, Android, and iOS operating systems.
•	Experience with bug and backlog tracking software such as Redmine, Jira,
etc.
•	Detailed and effective written communication skills for documenting the
features tested and bugs found
•	Highly organized, detail oriented, extremely responsive and able to
prioritize a large number of tasks.
•	Self-motivated, works well independently and with others.
•	Ability to travel to conferences.
