The Maryland Library for the Blind hosts a book club on the second Saturday
of each month. All the books selected are available from NLS. They can be
down loaded from the BARD web site or requested from LBPH. Below you will
see the month and day, the LBPH staff member appointed to facilitate
discussion, the book, the author and the NLS identification number for the
book. The DB, RC, BR or LP indicates the type of media available. As you
will see, some selections are available in all media while others are not. I
hope to see more of you at these meetings and believe that if NFB members
regularly attend, in time we can have a major voice in determining what is
read for future meetings. There are instances where books chosen are
expected to be completed by NLS but as of this time are not. IN such cases
you will see that the number is to be announced and in one case, the books
name is to be announced. The book club is from 12:00 to 1:30 always
following the Technology User Group meetings run by Jerry Price that are
from 10:00 to 11:30. All should feel free to attend both though also
attendance at both is certainly not necessary. Tyson fogle oversees planning
for the book club so if you have questions or comments regarding these
selections, feel free to contact him or me. He strives to have a mix of
fiction and nonfiction, modern and classic and so forth. Book club can be
stimulating but for that, we need interested folks to participate and lend
their energies to it!
