Dear Friends,

We are getting very excited about our Mentoring program. We have received a lot of contact from some really awesome young people who want to be mentored but we need your help in being a mentor. These young people come from all walks of life and experiences and are looking for guidance in how to be successful in their life choices. I know that each and every one of you is busy beyond belief and trying to find 4 hours a month and weekly email and phone communication with a young person seems impossible when you barely have time to be with your family but I know you can surely find a creative way to make it happen.

I also know that we in the movement know that mentoring takes place each and every day which is true. However, we have come into contact with some young people who are not connecting with anyone and we cannot let them slip through the cracks. These young people are hungry for a relationship with a successful blind mentor and they want to have fun! Many of them have little if any contact with successful adult blind mentors and this is why I am asking you to please consider being a mentor.

This mentoring program will help to strengthen our affiliate and our student division but we need your help to make it happen. Please consider being a mentor and if you know of anyone that you feel would be a good mentor, please share this email. We are looking for mentors from across the state. At this point, we have about 15 protégé's who have expressed an interest in the program and only 2 mentors. Your help in any capacity is appreciated.

If you have any questions or if you find the application too cumbersome, please let me know. Dezman or I will be happy to complete the application over the phone.

Thank you in advance!
Warm regards,

Amy C. Phelps, CRC, NOMC
