Who:            Parents of blind and low vision children, teens, and
young adults 

                    Teachers and Para-professionals of blind and low
vision student                    

Blind and low vision children, teens, and young adults

What will participants gain from this day-long workshop?

Parents and Teachers

*	Exposure to technology frequently used by blind and low vision
students in the classroom and at home 
*	Hands-on training in the use of Notetakers, screen access
technology, and Apple iOS devices provided by staff of the NFB JI
International Braille and Technology Center 
*	Information and resources to support blind and low vision
children, teens and young adults or students in achieving true
independence 

 

Blind and low vision youth and young adults (8 years to 24 years) 

Tracks will be divided into appropriate age groupings

*	Learn how the skills of blindness will help in achieving success
in school and in life 
*	Hands on access to nearly all of the tactile and speech output
technology now available to the blind at the National Federation of the
Blind 

International Braille and Technology Center

*	Who's IEP and IPE is it anyway? How to take the lead in the
development of "your" IEP and IPE 
*	Learning and networking with blind mentors and role models
