Melba,

Don’t think you realize you posted this to the listserve. All, there are only specific people for whom we need information, so if you weren’t contacted by me directly, you don’t have to let us know how you are accessing.

I will be using the app via desktop computer to keep my cell phone free. However, my cellphone number is 2403811637.

All,

All,

If you are receiving this message, then you have a significant role in the NFB of Maryland convention this weekend. We need to know how to identify you. Please reply to Scott White swhite at nfb.org <mailto:swhite at nfb.org> and me to let us know:

1. Will you be using an app or dialing in using a phone?

2. If via phone, what is your phone number?

3. If via an app, please change your settings to display your name prior to logging in. If you cannot do that, what appears when you log into Zoom?

4. Is there anything else we need to know in order to find you and make you a Zoom cohost so you can engage in the convention?

Please note:

1. You should be muted at all times unless you are seeking the floor, are presenting, or the chair asks you to unmute

2. You will not be able to raise your hands in Zoom if you are a cohost, so you may speak if trying to bid on an auction item or show yourself present for a door prize

3. You may want to mute notifications so as to not be distracted by screen readers. You can do this in your profile under accessibility. Suggest you mute entry and exit notifications as well as chat notifications.

4. Please do not respond to chat questions/comments unless you have specifically been assigned to do so.

5. If you are a delegate or have a speaking role, please either turn on your camera or put up a profile picture – cameras are preferable. If you are dialing in using a phone, you can’t do either, so don’t worry about this.

6. If your camera is on, be mindful that we can see you. Please dress appropriately.

7. It’s fine to have a virtual background, as long as it is not inappropriate. If you would like to use the NFB Zoom background, we can send that to you.

8. If you are a delegate and you need to leave, please get in touch with both me and the main host to let them know so the alternate delegate can be elevated.

Let me know if you have questions.

Thanks,

Ronza

The National Federation of the Blind of Maryland knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
