THE POWER OF MOVEMENT WITH THE NATION’S BLIND

We did it! Our generous supporters helped us exceed the 2025 HumanWare
Matching Gift and cheer on our Federation family in the Coast-to-Coast
Movement Challenge. That's more than $100,000 raised to advance the lives
of blind people.

Roger shared,

> "I had the honor of running CIM this year as a National Federation of the
> Blind Movement Ambassador, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity
> to represent such an inspiring organization. A huge thank you to all the
> runners who were part of our charity bib team in support of the National
> Federation of the Blind. Your commitment, miles, and generosity truly
> make a difference, and I'm proud to have shared this journey with you."

Read "Running for the Federation: Meet Roger Oberholzer [1]". If you are
interested in participating in a 2026 run or walk event, email
outreach at nfb.org.

SHARE STORIES TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM

The problem is society still doesn't believe in the full capacity of blind
individuals and expect less from us. Every day, we raise those expectations
when we share our stories in our words.

WHAT IS YOUR PERSPECTIVE ON BLINDNESS?

In "Razor-Blade Reflections: What You See Isn't Always What You Get [2]",
Marie writes, "We see the world through our lens, shaped through our lived
experience. But others see us through theirs. And when it comes to
blindness, those perspectives don't always line up."

Our stories have gone untold, but our members have a dedicated space to
share their lived experiences. Read the January issue of the _Braille
Monitor_ [3] for the stories and news of the organized blind movement.

WE KNOW BRAILLE IS LITERACY

January 4 is World Braille Day! Braille is beneficial because it offers
blind people independence, confidence, and flexibility in our daily lives.
Listen to more Braille stories and learn about the annual celebration of
World Braille Day [4].

WE CAN ACHIEVE CAREER SUCCESS

"I realized that when I was wiping blindness out of the equation to be seen
as equal, I myself was erasing that fundamental part of myself," Christina
Jones shared during our Where the Blind Work Webinar [5], where successful
blind professionals share their work experiences. Learn about our
employment initiatives and upcoming events [6].

UNTIL NEXT TIME

Mark your calendar for our National Convention [7], July 3-8, 2026-the
biggest event of the year!

You are subscribed to our monthly community impact email, formerly called
_Imagineering Our Future_ e-newsletter, where we share how we are advancing
the lives of the Nation's Blind. The National Federation of the Blind is a
network of members, friends, and people like you who believe in the hopes
and dreams of blind people.
