Hello,

I think this is a good thread to forward. I like the creativity in the
first message. This is simply food for thought when planning events.

Warm Regards,

Fred

This year is our chapter's first Holiday party. We are treating the
residents of an assisted living center to Holiday music and goodies. We have
visited the home on one other occasion and were well received. We intend to
return to the center this coming year to give demonstrations on the use of
various assistive technology and devices as well as the news line. If folks
have a karaoke machine as my family does, it works well to bring as
accompaniment for the songs. We will have print and braille booklets with
the words so that folks can sing along. My family love to sing and have lead
similar parties for the AARP. We hope it goes as well.

I would appreciate some feedback from people concerning financial burdens
for members to go to restaurants. Do you believe that the cost of the meals
detours any of the members or potential members from coming to the meetings?

We usually have it as part of the December meeting--pizza, sandwiches or
cookies, and beverages. Generally the officers and a few other people pay
for it. We may take up a collection from the membership to give a gift to
the person or persons who help out with the meeting room.

We try not to use the chapter treasury.

Hello: This is Miranda Morse from the NFB of Iowa Southeastern Chapter. I
was wondering what everyone does for their Christmas Parties and whether
funds come out of the Treasury to pay for a room or if that is the
individuals responsibility?
