New College Policy Tops Agenda

for Michigan Commission for the Blind Board Meeting August 27 in Lansing

August 19, 2010 - The Michigan Commission for the Blind (MCB) will hold its quarterly board meeting on Friday, August 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Lansing
at the Victor Building, 201 N. Washington Square (at Ottawa), third floor, Conference Room A/B.  The meeting is open to the public and will be of interest
to people who are blind or visually impaired, their family members and friends, and anyone interested in learning more about the state- and federally funded
services provided throughout Michigan by MCB.

The morning agenda will include review and approval of the MCB College Policy and administrative reports from MCB staff.  The afternoon agenda will include
several items related to the Business Enterprise Program (BEP) including the Elected Operators Committee report and board discussion regarding BEP vending
as it relates to the Randolph Sheppard Act and P.A. 260 of 1978.  There will be two opportunities for public comment during the day, one at mid-morning
and the other immediately after lunch.

The meeting site is accessible.  Individuals attending the meeting are requested to refrain from using heavily scented personal care products in order to
enhance accessibility for everyone. People with disabilities requiring additional accommodations (such as materials in alternative format) in order to
participate in the meeting should call Sue Luzenski at (517) 335-4265 by August 24, 2010.

The commission’s five-member policy board, appointed by Governor Jennifer M. Granholm, oversees MCB programs throughout Michigan. For more than 30 years,
the Michigan Commission for the Blind has provided training and other services for individuals who are blind or visually impaired to achieve independence
and/or employment in the careers of their choice, serving approximately 3,200 state residents in fiscal year 2009.  For more information, visit
