Re: Formal ADA Grievance State board of Ethics Web Access
Patrick Cannon
State of Michigan
Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinator
Via E-Mail
Dear Mr. Cannon,
I am writing you today to address an issue facing me, a person who is blind in trying to access a State of Michigan web site and am complaining pursuant to violations of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. To make matters brief and succinct here I have been trying to access the opinions published and posted to the State Board of Ethics web site available for free to the public at:
http://web1mdcs.state.mi.us/nxt/gateway.dll?f=templates&fn=default.htm&vid=ethics:ethics02
Unfortunately this database is not accessible to those of us using screen reading technologies such as myself. The act of discrimination here under the ADA is clear and the rights under Title II in these regards have case precedent. In fact I and others similarly situated simply don’t have the same ease of access and timely delivery of information like this as do the non-disabled citizens of Michigan.
Thus, I am writing you today to speedily resolve this matter by lending this agency appropriate technical assistance so that this matter might be resolved in an expedited matter.
Please, make any written response to this complaint simply to my e-mail address listed above.
Sincerely,
Paul Joseph Harcz, Jr.
