Subject: [Nfbnet-members-list] Looking for Info
Hi all,
Charlie Brown, a lawyer who works for the American Action fund is helping a lawyer in Hawaii with a discrimination case. The case involves a woman from AZ who was vacationing in HI and scheduled to take a swim with the dolphins. When she arrived at the event, she was apparently not allowed to participate because she was blind and the activity was thought to be too risky for her. In any case, this lawyer is collecting information to show that blind people can and do participate in these kinds of activities and even show other typically "risky" activities in which other blind people have participated to demonstrate how this company discriminated against her. So, I am asking any of you out there who have participated in this kind of activity before to contact Charlie Brown with your situations. He can be reached at the National office at 410.659.9314 ext. 2206 or via email at
cbrown at actionfund.org He is looking for stories from blind people who may have:
--swam with dolphins or participated in other similar marine life swims or excursions in the water
--SCUBA divers
--sky divers
--Para sailors
--any other "risky" type activities of this nature
If you can be of help to him, please contact him ASAP.
Thanks,
