Hello all,
I want to share something about candles. However, it is a bit
off this topic. I hope you-all don't mind. Some people who know
me well, have heard this story.
When I was fifty years old, I read a Kernel book story written by
a lovely lady from N. Carolina whose name was Hazel Staley.
She wrote that she had been afraid to light a candle all of her
life. When she was fifty years old, she learned to do it. I
wish I could reread this story, or tell everyone where to find
it.
Anyway, I decided that if Hazel could do it, I could do it.
I share that Joseli Walters hepled me to learn to light a candle
because I want you know again about the intergenerational nature
of our movement. At first, I kept a bowl of water close at hand.
Now, almost every day I light a candle as I have my prayer time.
I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a very fruitful
and blessed 2012.
With Federation love,
Go blue!!!!!
Mary wurtzel
