Hey Bird Brains and others, The time is here to start our birding by ear
class for the new year. Though it will soon be spring and our song birds
will be returning to the north we are going to dedicate this month to
studying our wwinter birds. On Saturday February 19 we will be meeting at
10:30 a.m. in the Environmental Interpretive Center on the University of
Michigan Dearborn campus at 4901 Evergreen. If you can stay past noon please
bring your lunch and join us in the quiet bird room where we will hear about
all the visitors to the birdfeeders. As you may remember our Michigan Owl
night was delayed a couple of weeks ago due to snowfall. So this Saturday
we will be going to Nature Discovery in Williamston. From six until eight we
will be learning about Michigan owls and then walking through the night
woods to talk to screech owls or whatever creatures we may chance to meet.
If you can join us for our visit to Nature Discovery please let me know. We
have transportation leaving from Dearborn and Lansing. If all this bird
activity is not enough for you, in the afternoon there will be opportunity
to learn how to tap the trees for maple sap which eventually becomes
delicious maple syrup. For more information on a day packed full of fun with
friends and nature, ingredients to make a wonderful life, please contact me
at 313-220-8140. I look forward to hearing from you and sharing nature
adventures together, Donna Posont
