New Special Ed Director and Blind Consumer Groups Top MCB Commission Meeting Agenda

June 8, 2011 - The Michigan Commission for the Blind (MCB) will hold its quarterly board meeting in Lansing on Friday, June 17, at 9:00 a.m., at Constitution
Hall, Conference Room A/B, 525 West Allegan.  The meeting is open to the public and will be of interest to MCB consumers, rehabilitation professionals,
and others interested in the agency’s programs, services, and related topics.

Highlights of the meeting include presentations by guest speakers including Dr. Eleanor White, Director, Office of Special Education and Early Intervention
Services, who will speak on the topic of Transition Services for Blind Youth in the K-12 System and address collaborations between her office and the Michigan
Commission for the Blind.  Other presentations will be by and about blind consumer groups, represented by these guest speakers:

·       Scott Ford, Director, Opportunities Unlimited for the Blind (OUB)

·       Lydia Schuck, Parents of Blind Children (POBC)

·       Gwen Botting, President, Michigan Parents of Children with Visual Impairments (MPVI)

·       Larry Posont, President, National Federation of the Blind of Michigan (NFB-MI)

·       Joe Sibley, President, Michigan Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired (MCBVI)
