Dear Sally,

Please fw all the other information including the Department of Management Technology and budget facility surveys associated with just a part of my ongoing complaint and sent to Jeanine Worden as send space files to the department.

I thank you for your efforts but as you know this and other systemic violations have gone on now for more than a decade without any attention to the matter.

The entire State of Michigan needs to be sued for basic physical and information access by the DOJ for the blind population alone.

Note: no raised character and Braille signs on most of the rooms in this pricey hotel used by agencies for the blind. They did refund me my money for my recent stay. Something that no state agency has done here in Michigan. For ironically I attended a Michigan Commission for the Blind meeting in Constitution Hall that was built in approximately 2001 and owned by the State of Michigan and which didn't even have raised character and Braille signage on the very rooms the meeting was in.

What in the world is wrong with this state?

  Sincerely,

  Joe

  Dear Sir,

In a continuing effort to resolve this issue for myself, all blind and all otherwise disabled people I am submitting to you a link to the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Disability rights Section advisory on Lodgings with links to facility surveys.

I would hope that you or appropriate personnel actually conduct these surveys (using the checklists herein) and ensure that barriers are indeed removed.

  The link is:
  http://www.ada.gov/hsurvey.htm

I am requesting that surveys are remitted to me once conducted.

As per our recent telephone conversation vis a vis interim measures I am awaiting the written policy you suggested regarding placing any blind customer only on floors that are accessible.

Of, course I wish for that letter in accessible format. Simple e-mail will suffice.

Again I wish to thank Courtney and other staff for fine work and for refunding my room on the spot.

But, as stated in our recent telephone call this Hotel is woefully out of compliance with the ADA, and is often used illegally by the way by many federally funded and state organizations for events including the Michigan Commission for the Blind, the Statewide Independent Living Council, and Michigan Rehabilitation Services to name just a few.

By law they should not be contracting with the Raddison.

The bottom line is that your Hotel will loose valuable business which I think no one wishes for.

  Sincerely,

  Paul Joseph Harcz, Jr.
