[nfbmi-talk] sighted siblings with canes

Dear Lydia and others,

I am sure that every blind parent, especially those in the NFB, have
experienced the desire of their children to have a white cane just like mom
and dad. I remember my children when very young thinking that the small
canes I had brought home for some blind children in the community were
suppose to be for them. They were a bit disappointed when I had to tell
them they were for the blind kids.
I believe that since mom and dad used a white cane it was okay and they
placed no stereotype or misconceptions to them all

What a cute story. And how appropriate for the big sister to be a role
model.

Thanks for sharing this.
