Globally recognized Peckham a valuable asset to region | Lansing State Journal | lansingstatejournal.com

Peckham Inc., a private, nonprofit community rehabilitation organization, marked its 35th anniversary in Lansing last week.

CEO Mitch Tomlinson first arrived in Lansing in 1976, and he and his wife started the company in the basement of a community library.

Now, Peckham serves as an internationally recognized human services agency and job creator for individuals with disabilities.

The company's mission is to provide a wide range of opportunities to maximize human potential for persons striving for independence and self-sufficiency.

The results over the last 35 years are exceptional.

Peckham and Capital Area Michigan Works work in collaboration to provide job training and competitive employment opportunities for persons with disabilities

and other barriers to employment.

Peckham has grown to be one of the largest community vocational rehabilitation programs in Michigan, specializing in creating positive change in the lives

of people with disabilities and other barriers to employment.

By creating a work environment that enables employees to achieve independence and self-sufficiency in the work-\u2011 place, Peckham has built a culture

of respect, inclusion, engagement, pride, leadership and empowerment.

The Peckham team had a record year of $166.3 million in revenue in its apparel manufacturing division. This, along with the 17 accolades listed in the company's

annual report released last week demonstrates that they have indeed hit the ball out of the park.

This kind of performance doesn't just happen. It requires a top-notch team of employees with a shared vision, striving for excellence in the workplace.

Six members of the Peckham team that exemplify this were recognized at this year's celebration: Allison McCarthy, Bradley Meyers, Mike Guyeskey, Tim Hyatt,

Antonio Kelly, and Tina Olmstead. As each accepted their award, there was a sense of pride, humility and joy. Each received a standing ovation from the

hundreds of attendees.

Greater Lansing is fortunate to have a company like Peckham based here, doing work on both a local and global scale, and providing jobs in an all-inclusive

environment that delivers quality, diversity and performance.
