Dear Leamon Jones,
This letter is in regards to the 2008-2009 Certified Match Agreement between Eaton Intermediate School District and Michigan Commission for the Blind. At that time, Eaton Intermediate employed two individuals that supported students who were legally blind and/or visually impaired.
These certified staff members provided the following:
· Orientation and Mobility Specialist:
o In-school mobility training
o Community mobility training
o Work based learning site mobility training
o After school “club” to help improve independence
· Visually Impaired Teacher Consultant:
o Specialized technology training and guidance for accommodation available post-high school
o Individual academic supports
o Social skills guidance
o General education and special education consultation with teachers
o Pre-employment/career assessments and discussions
o Connecting with agencies and community supports
These expanded services provided by Eaton Intermediate School District though the certified staff match agreement for Michigan Commission for the Blind consumers, align with the necessary transition activities to support positive post school outcomes in further education/training, independent adult living and ultimately successful community employment.
The partnership between Eaton Intermediate School District and Michigan Commission for the Blind is essential for the future success of the individuals we both serve.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 517-541-8732.
Sincerely,
