Hello,
Peckham Industries has a federal contract to process some kind of
immigration information in a call center. Several years ago, there was an
attempt to make the software accessible to totally blind people. To my
knowledge, this was never accomplished. They, thus, discriminate against
blind people in getting these "prety good jobs" as jobs at this shop go.
This is a violation of sections 504 and 508 minimally, plus Michigan law.
Both MCB and Peckham are violating the law by doing business.
Second, Gwynn McNeal serves on the board of New Horizons, a sheltered shop,
in Oakland County. McNeal also has signed an agreement to contract with New
Horizons for clients. McNeal also supervises and approves expenditures to
New Horizons. This seems to be a conflict of interest at best.
BEP has so many problems they can hardly be enumerated. Trainees are not
being sufficiently trained. Sighted people are operating BEP facilities
when there are blind people who have asked to do the job. There are
possible mishandling of equipment within BEP and the list goes on.
We can talk more about this stuff.
Warmest Regards,
Fred
