> Dear Mr. Posont:
>
> As part of our continuing effort to make the election process
> accessible to blind and visually impaired voters, the National
> Federation of the Blind is developing a voting liaison training
> program for use by our state affiliates. The development of this
> program is funded by a Help America Vote Act (HAVA) training/technical
> assistance grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human
> Services, Administration for Community Living. The purpose of the
> voting liaison program is to train one member of each state
> affiliate to work with the state and/or local board of elections to
> eliminate barriers to accessible voting that prevent blind
> voters from casting a private, independent ballot. All state affiliate
> presidents are encouraged to appoint an experienced blind or
> visually impaired voter as their affiliate voting liaison to help
> ensure that the rights of all blind and visually impaired voters
> in their state are not violated. Each affiliate president should
> provide their voting liaison's name and contact information to Lou
> Ann Blake, NFB HAVA project manager, no later than April 15, 2013, via
> e-mail at lblake at nfb.org<mailto:lblake at nfb.org> or by phone
> at 410-659-9314, extension 2221. Questions about the voting liaison
> program should also be directed to Lou Ann.
