Again from the FY 2014 state plan supplement....Now aside from other lies note the reference to using Newsline for enhancing employment outcoes here. Now this was written prior to June 30, 2013 and yet we didn't get funding for Newsline except with a documented battle for it and only partial funding at that in september of this tyear.

Goal 6 - Employment Outcomes

Indicator 1.1 references the number of individuals with employment outcomes. The BSBP goal is to increase competitive employment opportunities for individuals with visual impairment and blindness by utilizing its business services staff which includes job developers to develop employer relations to foster greater job opportunities through its work with the Michigan Works!, National Employment Team (NET), employers, employment fairs, and Newsline to increase the percentage of employment outcomes so that consumers will have more opportunities to market their skills. BSBP will actively seek to increase Workforce Development Board memberships. BSBP’s priority is to seek out new opportunities within the community each year and to establish meaningful partnerships with its community partners in order to expand employment outcomes for blind and visually impaired individuals. BSBP, through its collaboration with community partners and employers, has established a goal to rehabilitate 162 consumers with competitive outcomes. Another objective is to collaborate with the employment community through the use of BSBP’s Business Services staff and the distribution of brochures. The Business Services brochures will inform employers of services that the bureau provides and how qualified job ready candidates are screened and evaluated for appropriate employment.
