U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez was a guest on today's
installment of "The Diane Rehm Show," which is carried on hundreds of
NPR-affiliated stations across the country. This is relevant because
one of NFB Michiana's officers was listening to this in the car when
it was aired live today, and the issue of subminimum-wage working
conditions for the disabled was brought up. I have not yet heard this
program, but Jeanette's take was a positive one: that the Obama
administration "gets it" and is planning to address this head-on.
Judge for yourself. The promotional text representing this first hour
of "The Diane Rehm Show" for today reads as follows:

"Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez joins Diane to talk about President
Barack Obama's agenda to reduce income inequality, increase the
minimum wage and recruit big business to hire the long-term
unemployed."

Like most NPR-distributed material, "The Diane Rehm Show" is made
available via podcast. Episodes are downloadable through the iTunes
Store, but are also easily found and downloaded from the Web via a
wide variety of podcatching programs. You can, of course, subscribe
and listen directly from your PC if this is preferred.
