BUSINESS ASSISTANCE AND

DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (BADP)

BADP is in the process of working on several projects.

BADP is creating a business model to be implemented for the preparation of food service in the Anderson Building.

The second BADP project is the creation of a system to identify which Vocational Rehabilitation clients will be identified and processed through the Business Assistance and Development Program towards the goal of owning their own business.

The third initiative BADP is implementing is a system reviewing ongoing and past business plans in order to evaluate the effectiveness and completeness of the business plan for clients. Towards the goal of creating a standard business plan model that all vendors and clients will follow in the future. As a function of this activity, the BADP Director has already reviewed five different business plans. Three of these plans have been finalized and the businesses, if not already, should be up and running within the next month. The remaining two are still being analyzed and hopefully will be completed within the next couple of months.

There have been preliminary discussions with the Director at the Training Center to identify a complete training process. Additionally, BADP is reviving resources that may be utilized for use in this process such as the Michigan Restaurant Association, Hadley School for the Blind, Senior Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), Michigan Career and Training Institute (MCTI) and other public, private and nonprofit entities. BADP will develop resources as opportunities that may be available for blind individuals in our state.
