Job Description

 

The Director of Information Technology will lead a team of 30+ highly experienced IT professionals in supporting government outsourced IT helpdesks and

call centers. Peckham, Inc is a private non-profit and one of the largest Michigan based firms in providing outsourced solutions to government customers.

The Business Services Division of Peckham supports job creation of call center and Tier I IT Helpdesk jobs for wounded warriors and other persons with

disabilities. The Director of Information Technology provides management and oversight of multiple secure data centers, applications that support end-users,

data and voice networks and infrastructure, disaster recovery systems, information assurance and telephony systems. This is an exciting, fast paced job

that requires leadership, people skills, technical knowledge and respect for your team.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

1. Provide technical oversight of the Business Services IT Team via project plans, internal controls, and general supervision; assign, monitor, and evaluate

the project development, and activities of the team

2. Provide thought leadership in change control efforts for the business unit

3. Coordinate system architectures with the Peckham Technology and Information Systems (TIS) team to ensure compatibility and interoperability

4. Coordinate with TIS on the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and outages of common systems between Business Services and TIS

5. Manage the development and maintenance of documentation and procedural standards

6. Monitor and control all phases of project support in order to assure accuracy, timeliness, and effective use of resources

7. Prepare detailed specifications and planning/tracking documents

8. Develop, analyze and monitor existing Business Services IT Team project methods/procedures as necessary

9. Apply project management knowledge, technical, and interpersonal skills. Implement and utilize project management tools and techniques to meet the requirements

of short and long term Business Services IT Team projects

10.  Plan, lead, and facilitate regular cross-functional IT Team and Technical Project Team meetings

 

11.  Develop communication plans with the Business Services IT Team

 

12.  Proactively assess and analyze issues/risk factors that may compromise the project teams’ performance and end result; develop plans to remove or mitigate

issues and risk factors

 

13.  Develop and implement Business Continuity strategies

 

14.  Monitor schedules, issue logs, and risk management plans and provide warnings of serious deviations or violations that may compromise the Business

Services IT Team’s performance and project completion

 

15.  Conceive and issue regular internal/external project reports for large or complex projects managed

 

16.  Lead government system Certification & Accreditation efforts

 

17.  Organize the Business Service Division IT Team into appropriate work groups and work closely with them to support and guide the entire project Team

in their efforts to meet the Business Services IT needs within Peckham, Inc.

 

18.  Manage technology vendor relationships

 

19.  Utilize a collaborative team approach for all projects - Daily

 

20.  Promote Peckham’s vision, values, and services to all customers and stakeholders - Daily

 

21.  Assist in maintaining organization wide quality standards - Daily

 

22.  Other duties as requested and/or assigned

 

Job Requirements

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Ability to oversee all aspects of day-to-day management of the Business Services IT Team and Technology Projects.

2. Ability to monitor and coordinate the work performed by the Business Services IT Team.

3. Ability to ensure that Business Services Division IT project operations are in accordance with designated project specifications and in the best interests

of Business Services.

4. Ability to prepare project plans whereby goals, objectives, risks, assumptions, organizational structure, team members, roles and responsibilities, work

breakdown, structure, and deliverables are clearly identified and defined.

5. Ability to manage the overall project(s) and its activity and ensure that all necessities are available to produce the planned deliverables on time and

within the approved budget.

6. Ability to lead and/or support the interdisciplinary Business Services IT Team in preplanning and developing project related items/documents.

7. Knowledge of managerial, technical, and operational principles of current generation information technology and project management.

8. Ability to analyze business situations and information systems, and to formulate and apply information technology solutions

9. Strong working knowledge of IT Governance & IT Risk Management models

10. Thorough understanding of Systems Development Life cycle  (SDLC)

11. Experienced in senior level writing forms, having the ability to demonstrate advanced written and verbal communications to facilitate logical project

planning and the resolution of Business Services IT Team problems and concerns.

12. Ability to persuasively communicate and work effectively with others.

13. Ability to effectively lead others, implement teambuilding strategies, and be a strong team player that demonstrates exceptional leadership abilities.

14. Ability to adapt effective communication skills to a diverse range of people and unique situations to achieve complex objectives.

15. Ability to interact professionally with customers, supervisor, subordinates, and other co-workers.

COMMENTS

 

This position requires passing and maintaining federal and state security background checks.  U.S. Citizenship required due to security clearances. Must

have access to reliable transportation.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, and other desired traits:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Bachelor's degree in Information Management and/or related field and/or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination

of education and experience. Masters Degree in related field desired, but not required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries

or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform

to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

Good team-building skills, collaboration skills, and communication skills, (especially when communicating technical matter to non-technical staff).

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions

in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
