[nfbmi-talk] Fw: my own records request

Hello Terry,

Again, how do you expect to empower positive change with such negative words towards others? Are these the kinds of words that would most likely provoke someone to change, or would they only serve to offend others? I understand this may be a radical point of view, but just because my point of view happens to be different, it does not make it any less valid than your point of view.

Warm regards,
Elizabeth

Elizabeth, I don't know of what you speak.

Should you are referring to the word "damn", the word has numerous meanings than your singleular and very narrow meaning and interpretation you obviously attribute to the use of the word. I agree, cussing accomplishes nothing, thus I do not advocate or participate in such public dialogue. Emphasis, however, is appropriate and normal dialogue.

For your education expandsion, here is a sample of the various meanings in the English language use:

damn
verb
past participle: damned
 1. be doomed to misfortune or failure.
verb: damn; 3rd person present: damns; past tense: damned ; gerund or present participle:
damning
"the enterprise was damned"
2. condemn, especially by the public expression of disapproval.
"intellectuals whom he damns as rigid doctrinaire idealists"
synonyms:
condemn, censure, criticize, attack, denounce, revile; More . . . find fault with, deprecate, disparage; Informal slam, lay into, blast "we are not going to damn the new product before we try it"
antonyms:
acclaim
,
praise
"she cleared her throat, damning it for its huskiness"
synonyms: put the evil eye on,
anathematize, hex
,
jinx
"they were all damning him"
antonyms:
bless
exclamation
informal: exclamation: damn
 1. expressing anger, surprise, or frustration.
"Damn! I completely forgot!"
synonyms: darn, damn it, drat, shoot, blast, doggone (it), hell, rats "Damn! I forgot the keys"
adjective
informal
adjective: damn
 1.
used for emphasis, especially to express anger or frustration.
"turn that damn thing off!"
Origin
Middle English: from Old French dam(p)ner, from Latin dam(p)nare ‘inflict loss on,’ from damnum ‘loss, damage.’

Hello Terry,

I can understand your frustration with the BSBP. However, what exactly does swearing at them on a public email list accomplish? The new one minute message from the national office seeks to empower blind people by telling them that blindness does not need to hold them back from living the life they want. How does swearing at the vocational rehabilitation agency accomplish this goal? I personally do not see how swearing at the BSBP on a public email list accomplishes anything positive, and I do not believe the use of such profanity should be permitted on our email list.

Warm regards,
Elizabeth

This is the agency for the blind folks and it isn't accessible to those of us who are blind. Yet they get literally millions to violate our fundamental civil and human rights.

Now what in the flying world is wrong with this insane picture where the very agency for the blind violates the rights of tthe blind?
