Description 
The Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA), which operates Detroit Metro Airport and Willow Run Airport, is seeking a Director of Government Relations to join our leadership team. WCAA is looking for an individual with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, political science, public administration or an appropriate related field AND three (3) years of progressive experience in governmental and legislative relations at local and State (Michigan) levels. Additionally, five years (5) of experience in Federal, State and local legislative affairs is highly desirable. In this position you will report to the Senior Vice President and General Counsel and act as the intergovernmental liaison with Federal, State, County, municipal, legislative and congressional bodies to effectuate an outcome in government affairs matters that is consistent with the strategic and organizational goals of the WCAA. This position involves, among other things, developing and maintaining a legislative agenda for the accomplishment of the WCAA’s strategic and organizational goals, initiating and implementing appropriate recommendations for legislative, regulatory and other public policy activities, coordinating WCAA’s intergovernmental efforts with Federal, State, County and municipal agencies and initiating and directing Federal, State and local advocacy outreach on behalf of the WCAA. 

 A qualified candidate should be knowledgeable about the workings of local, County, State and Federal elected government, have a thorough understanding of legislature and regulatory agencies and the ability to adjust plans or initiatives based on the WCAA’s focus and direction, and understand and comply with policies that regulate lobbyist activities. Based on specific job duties being performed, a candidate must be eligible to register as a State or Federal Governmental Lobbyist.
