Dear Jason,

YOU have an exciting opportunity to help revitalize our region by ensuring we improve and expand public transportation.

You are invited to the event revealing the Regional Transit Authority's proposed transit master plan. It's next Tuesday, May 31, at 10am at Lawrence Tech in Southfield. Come learn about the RTA plan, get your questions answered, and give your input.

RSVP today at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/rta-master-plan-reveal-tickets-25210102094

Imagine easy access to jobs and doctors all throughout our region.

Imagine reliable travel across counties without depending on a car.

Imagine vibrant cities that attract and retain the best employers and talented people.

It is possible even here in the Motor City!

Next Tuesday, May 31, the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will share their plan for how southeast Michigan will develop a world-class public transit system. Built from nearly two years of public input and data analysis, the plan will help address key challenges throughout all of Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne Counties, including Detroit.

Because our lives don't end at our county borders, the plan will include cross county connector buses.

To ensure we can get to the airport without spending an arm and a leg on parking or taxis, the plan will include Airport Express service throughout the region.

Because people need quick reliable ways to get to work, school, doctors, and elsewhere, the plan will include rapid transit buses and trains.

To ensure our region's job centers are accessible to job seekers, the plan will include expansions and extensions of existing bus service into new areas.

Because no one should feel trapped in their homes when they no longer drive, the plan will include expanded transit services for seniors and people with disabilities.

The plan released next Tuesday will detail plans, maps, costs, timelines and more. Everything in the plan is in addition to existing bus service, not replacing nor eliminating anything offered by SMART, DDOT, or others.

Limited by financial and political constraints, the plan will not solve all transportation problems for all people. But it should be a pretty significant step in the right direction!

There are three main ways to learn about the plan and have your say in it:

1) If you can, attend the release of the plan next Tuesday May 31 at 10:00am at Lawrence Tech in Southfield. The formal presentation of the plan will be followed by a public open house - the first opportunity to ask questions and share your opinions. Get the details and RSVP online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/rta-master-plan-reveal-tickets-25210102094 .

2) If you can't attend, you can review the plan online, including a video, maps, county factsheets, and more on or after May 31 at www.RTAmichigan.org.

3) Throughout June, the RTA will host a series of public meetings to share the plan and seek public input. In July, the Board of Directors of the RTA will approve the final plan and place a funding measure on the November ballot. Stay tuned to details.

Please share this information with your friends, family, neighbors and colleague. Everyone in southeast Michigan should be part of deciding our region's transit future!

Thanks,
Megan
