Reservists are vital employees, to FEMA's disaster workforce, who work on an on-call, intermittent basis to support disaster survivors when they are most in need. They are the main FEMA workforce during an emergency or disaster that assists the agency in accomplishing its mission. Disability Integration Advisor

A Disability Integration Advisor is responsible for providing subject matter expertise, guidance and resources to all FEMA programs and services during response and recovery for disasters to ensure programs and services are integrated and fully accessible to survivors with disabilities and other individuals with access and functional needs.

In this position typical assignments will include, but are not limited to:



  *   Participating as part of a team in facility site evaluation for Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) within 48 hours of a validated State's request.

  *   Working collaboratively and providing guidance to External Affairs, Disaster Survivor Assistance, Individual Assistance, Recovery and other program areas that interface with the community.

  *   Providing guidance for State and local governmental agencies to assist with ensuring people with disabilities and/or other access and functional needs have equal access to programs and services.

  *   Providing Support Services Branch or designee guidance and technical assistance to establish accessibility at Disaster Recovery Center and other field locations pursuant to establish Agency policy guidance.

Disability Integration Advisor Lead

A Disability Integration Advisor Lead serves as the lead expert level advisor to the Command Staff and program areas providing expert level advice, guidance and technical assistance on programmatic, physical and effective communication access for people with disability and others with access and functional need for all Presidentially Major Disaster and Emergency Declarations.

In this position typical assignments will include, but are not limited to:



  *   Leading all Disability Integration staff and managing activities at a Joint Field Office.

  *   Advising, developing, and delivering technical training to guide, facilitate and achieve equal access throughout all disaster programs and services.

  *   Establishing and maintaining tone and tenor of Disability Integration across all aspects of response, recovery and mitigation while providing strategic analyses addressing disaster staffing, efficiency and capabilities to support disaster operations.

  *   Engaging existing coalitions as partners and building coalitions internally and with other Federal agencies, State and local tribal territorial governments, nonprofit and private sector organizations, and disability advocacy leaders to achieve inclusive emergency management.

  *   Establishing and managing organizational and information resources strategically to achieve measurable outcomes which prioritize the needs of disaster survivors.

  *   Meeting organizational goals and customer expectations and making decisions that produce high-quality results by applying technical knowledge, analyzing problems, and calculating risks.

Certified Deaf Interpreter Technical Specialist A Certified Deaf Interpreter Technical Specialist provides American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation to meet the communications requirements of disaster survivors and the general public throughout emergency operations, programs and services while deployed to disasters and other emergency management events.

In this position typical assignments will include, but are not limited to:



  *   Providing interpreting, translation, and transliteration services in American Sign Language and other visual and tactual communication forms used by individuals who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deaf-blind.

  *   Delivering translation services for all FEMA programs and services during response and recovery for disasters to ensure programs and services are integrated and fully accessible to survivors with disabilities and other individuals with access and functional needs.

  *   Engaging and facilitating the active involvement of local and state disability services agencies and organizations and advocacy groups.

  *   Providing guidance and technical assistance regarding transcribing speech to text in meetings, conference calls and other event settings.

Resource Support Specialist

A Resource Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the Disability Integration Advisor Lead with managing resources and maintaining the resource status process of all resources including, personnel, equipment, and Initial Response Resources.

In this position typical assignments will include, but are not limited to:



  *   Creating and maintaining administrative documents and prioritizing reports used.

  *   Handling reasonable accommodation requests and ensuring all meetings and events are accessible.

  *   Maintaining a master roster of all resources checked in at the incident and written documents of all significant decisions and facts relative to activities on the incident.

  *   Ensuring that all publications of specific procedures, forms, and other documents are 508 compliant.

  *   Performing other duties as assigned.
