[Urgent Call to all Federation members]
Friends, and to all those supporting the rights of people with disabilities
to travel freely to and from Metro Airport. The WCAA, (Wayne County Airport
Authority has been going through changes which now include the airport
having a new interim CEO. One thing that has not changed, however, is that
the public bus stop is not user friendly to people who are blind or have
other disabilities. In its efforts to provide assistance the Airport
authority have determined that the best way to remedy this is to give us
access to a special stop we have to get permission to use by providing prior
notification to the transportation service we are using. Once again the
Wayne County Airport Authority board of directors will be having its monthly
meeting Wednesday, February 21, 2018, and again we will be making public
comment.
Here are the details.
Meeting time: 2 PM.
Meeting location: Michael Berry Administration Building:
Kevin Clark Conference Room
11050 Rogell Drive
Building Number 602.
Detroit, MI 48202

We need to have people there to make public comment or show their support to
those of us who will be speaking. If you want to attend this meeting
transportation is being provided. Send me an email with your name, phone
number, and the address you need to be picked up at and returned to so we
can arrange transportation for you.
I ask chapter presidents and other leaders to circulate this information
widely to let those members who do not have access to Email know of this
important event and provide me with their contact information if they wish
to attend.
Please circulate this announcement to others you know who have disabilities
and to disability Rights organizations. They might choose to coordinate
their own transportation arrangements but we are available to help them as
needed.
This is serious work we are about so we need all who can be there to help.
We appreciate the time and effort you will be making to demand that our
voices be heard and our rights respected.
