Summer Braille Class to Begin June 19th in Lansing!

The Michigan Department of Education-Low Incidence Outreach (MDE-LIO) is now taking registrations for a Beginner Braille Class in Lansing for parents, teachers, paraprofessionals, Orientation and Mobility Specialists, and other personnel who work with students who are blind or have a visual impairment. This class will meet at the Michigan Library and Historical Center in Lansing. There will be 16 two-hour sessions, meeting at 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 19-August 16, 2018. The class will not meet on July 3rd or July 5th.

Participants who satisfactorily complete the class requirements will receive a certificate. 

The registration fee for this class is $90 per person for teachers and other school personnel.  University students and parents of students who are blind or visually impaired can attend for ½ price!  

Required materials (not included in the registration fee) are Ashcroft’s Programmed Instruction in Braille: Unified English Braille (Printing 3) and Companion Reader: UEB.
