Hello,

I have never lived through a time in America like this. I suppose that is redundant to say. Further, it has never occurred to me that such an event would happen in my lifetime. Fortunately, I feel pretty confident at the moment. I was a little uneasy in the beginning. I read too many science fiction books, so I am a little wary. I also know how America came through the Great Depression and World War II and the Civil War. We are resilient and imaginative along with proud and protective of our rights. Things will be uncertain, but, eventually, things will return to some kind of normal.

I just completed the survey. It does not seem to be biased or tilted toward any interest, except to help identify ways that the Virus situation is impacting people who are blind and possible ways to improve accessibility. It is kind of long and will definitely take 30 minutes to complete. My schedule is not really blocked up for the next few days so I took time to do it. There is a drawing for some 20 dollar Amazon gift cards for those who complete the survey.

I definitely recommend that anyone concerned with shopping, help with students classes, voting and/or transportation take the survey. There are lots of places to make comments and suggestions. I have confidence that the results will be used in Congress to help make sure blind people are considered when making new policies. If you are concerned that disability will be used as a way to decide who gets medical treatment, this survey has a section on that where you can express your concerns. Just like voting, if you don’t participate, you will be stuck with everyone else’s choices and you will not be heard.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at <mailto:f.wurtzel at att.net> f.wurtzel at att.net or on Facebook. I will answer questions about the survey if I know the answer. I have no personal interest other than to help provide input to decision-makers about the needs of blind folks in getting through this difficult time.

When you feel overwhelmed, turn on your favorite music, I prefer loud with a strong percussion and some great guitars. The blues bring me joy. I hope you have something like this to help you feel better when you need it.

Please share this with any blind or low vision person that you think would want to help.

Warmest Regards,

Fred
