With face-to-face interaction suspended for a while, we in the
organized blind movement are embracing Zoom as a method for holding
meetings to coordinate help for one another and to keep communicating
our value to those who need to hear what we do.

But what exactly is Zoom? How does it work? And--the most important
question of all--what happens if I need to connect and Zoom isn't
working or isn't talking?

Well, there is an e-mail discussion list for that. It has been
created and is being moderated by a blind technologist named David
Goldfield. Not sure if he is connected with the Federation or even if
he is in the United States; but David is very competent, and this
forum will provide lots of us a chance to get our tech problems solved
by a whole worldwide community of Zoom users who live with blindness.
Please see below.

Subject: New Mailing List to Discuss the Zoom Platform
To: "main at jfw.groups.io" <main at jfw.groups.io>

Hello. So many of us are spending more time in our homes. Some of us may
be working from home while others, though they may not currently be
employed,
are using their technology even more. So many individuals and
organizations are hosting conferences using the Zoom Cloud Meetings
platform. Many people
are receiving invitations to these conferences and are finding
themselves using Zoom for the first time. While Zoom is very accessible
with screen readers
there's still a lot to learn and many of us have questions that we would
like answers to.

To that end I have created a mailing list for people to ask questions
and to provide support on how to use the Zoom program.

I currently have just two rules that I'd like all users to follow.

1. All messages should be relevant to Zoom. This can include Zoom on
Windows, Mac, iOS or Android.

2. No harassment or rudeness of any kind will be tolerated.

To join the group, send an email to

zoom-users+subscribe at groups.io

To send a message to the group the email address to use is

zoom-users at groups.io

Happy Zooming!
