Greetings, everybody.

If you happened to attend National Convention in New Orleans this
year, either in person or via the Zoom videoconferencing platform, you
will remember that a lot of attention was paid to the emerging
partnership involving the National Federation of the Blind, the
American Printing House for the Blind, and HumanWare to develop a
nine-line-at-a-time Braille display that can display lines of text and
tactile graphics at the same time. At Convention, this display was
branded as the Holy Braille.

I just ran across this update about the Holy Braille project,
described on the Leisure Link podcast. Because the producer and
distributor of this podcast is Vision Australia, I don't think the
Federation gets a mention in this episode. You have to concentrate,
since the dialects spoken don't always seem natural to the American
ear. But this is worth listening to, because the Federation has been
playing a prominent role in the design phase of this multiline Braille
display. Of course, affordability is a key here, and APH always has
very mindful of that too in its bringing of innovative products to
market.

The Holy Braille--if that is to be its ultimate name--is not yet ready
for prime time. But it's certainly something worth keeping a finger
on at this time, irrespective of whether you are a blind consumer, a
parent of blind children, or an advocate or teacher of blind adults
and children.

Cordially,
