Holy Smokes Folks!

Did you take a chance to check on our state affiliate fundraiser for Blind Equality Achievement Month (BEAM)? If not, I think it's time you head over to www.nfbmi.org/six-dot-stride<http://www.nfbmi.org/six-dot-stride> and note how quickly things are changing in the stride towards opportunities for blind youth and families. Our BEAM campaign, The Six Dot Stride, is a virtual walk-a-thon that promotes future programs for youth and families, like our NFBMI Braille Carnival, White Cane Karaoke, and adaptive recreation activities. NFB of Michigan affiliate members from any chapter or division were invited to sign up as a Strider and share their link to friends, family, strangers, and others while explaining the mission of the Federation throughout the month. Sharing the link with the public and promoting our work also can open possibilities for donations and our Six Dot Stride is the place to take pledges for these donations. Simply have a donor pledge to your Stride when sending them the link and it goes to supporting the affiliate's work. This year, we have some Striders that are making their presence felt:

It isn't too late to sign up to spread the word of our work with blind youth and families through our virtual walk-a-thon. Though those who signed up before October 15 qualify for prizes, members of the NFB of Michigan can sign up by visiting www.nfbmi.org/six-dot-stride<http://www.nfbmi.org/six-dot-stride> and following the steps to register. You can also support us by sharing the link or donating to a Strider that is competing for a prize. Reminder: When donating anonymously, if you don't select a Strider, then the amount won't count towards their overall total. Speaking of prizes, here's a reminder of what's up for grabs:

  * RayCon Bluetooth Ear Buds (Highest Donor Pledge)
  * Apple TV 4k Streaming Device (NFBMI Member with Highest Donation Total)
  * $50 Visa Gift Cards (Top Two Members' with Farthest Distance Walked on 11/5/22)

This means you can still do your part to actively support our programs through making this campaign a success. I imagine that there will be more competition heating up soon. If you have any questions on registering as a Strider or pledging to one, feel free to give me a call at (269) 216-8640. I'd love to work with you on how you can make a difference in the lives of our blind friends and community.

With Love,
Robert E. Parsons, Jr., M.A., CRC, CVRT, LLPC
