Greetings all.

I am passing this on from our national office in the event that you may not have seen it.

If you have experience with the accessible covid home test it is important that you give your feedback.

Thank you.

The National Institutes of Health Needs Your Feedback about COVID-19 Tests

The National Federation of the Blind is working directly with the National Institutes of Health, The White House, and other research partners on the accessibility of at-home COVID-19 tests. We recognize that you receive many surveys. This one about your experiences using at-home COVID-19 test kits is especially critical. Please take the time today to complete the following survey. It takes approximate five to ten minutes.

Thank you for your time and participation.

About Our Efforts

The National Federation of the Blind closely monitors the COVID-19 pandemic, which is changing everyone’s lives but has <https://nfb.org/civicrm/mailing/url?u=27507&qid=7752691> unique effects on blind people. In January, President Riccobono sent <https://nfb.org/civicrm/mailing/url?u=27508&qid=7752691> a letter to Acting FDA Commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock expressing our dismay that the government began distributing test kits that could not be used by those who are blind or have low vision. President Riccobono also <https://nfb.org/civicrm/mailing/url?u=27509&qid=7752691> wrote a follow-up letter on February 4.

The administration heard us and took action. For the past several months, the National Federation of the Blind has engaged in regular communication with the National Institutes of Health to monitor their progress advising companies how to modify existing and new test kits to be more usable by everyone with disabilities. Some of our members are now directly working with these companies and the NIH as subject-matter experts in nonvisual and low-vision accessibility. This survey presents an opportunity to bolster our work in demonstrating that the blind will accept nothing less than full, independent, and private access to our healthcare.

We are committed to providing solutions and holding the government accountable. The health and safety of all our members, colleagues, and friends is always our top priority.
